The short answer
Outside Dubai the volume you need stays the same. What changes is the length of the collection and redelivery journey, the rules at your building and which partner covers your area. Give the collection address with its emirate, say where redelivery will be, and ask where the unit will be kept.
Where you live and where it is stored are two questions
Searching for “storage Abu Dhabi” or “storage Sharjah” mixes up two different things. One is where you live and where the truck has to reach. The other is where the unit will sit afterwards. With collected storage they do not have to match. A unit loaded at a flat in Sharjah may be stored somewhere else, and one collected in Abu Dhabi may be stored in the same emirate or not.
That is why we do not publish a page per emirate promising a facility in each. StorageinUAE sizes your job and passes the enquiry to a storage partner that covers your area. We take enquiries from all seven emirates: Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. The calculator also lists Al Ain on its own, because people search for it by name, although it is a city in the Abu Dhabi emirate. What differs between emirates is mostly the journey and the access.
What changes outside Dubai
Distance
Collection and redelivery are priced, and distance is one of the things that moves them. A job that starts in Dubai and is stored in Dubai is the shortest case. Moving to Abu Dhabi, Al Ain or the northern emirates adds a longer drive each way, and some partners cover fewer areas than others. The cost page lists what shapes a quote.
Access at your end
Villas, towers and compounds each have their own rules for trucks. Many towers want a service lift booked and a loading bay reserved, and some ask for a deposit or a move-in slot. Compounds in any emirate may restrict delivery hours. Ask building management, then give the partner the answer.
Which partner covers you
Coverage is by emirate and sometimes by area inside one. Say where you are, as exactly as you can, when you send your enquiry. Do not assume a partner that covers Dubai covers Ajman.
Storage in each emirate
The volume is the same everywhere. What changes is the address you give and the questions your building will ask. A line on each emirate:
Dubai
Towers and managed communities such as Dubai Marina, Business Bay, JVC and Al Barsha often run their own move-in rules. Ask management about the service lift and the loading bay before you pick a collection date.
Abu Dhabi
The same lift and loading bay questions apply in towers, and the island and city communities (Yas Island, Saadiyat, Reem Island, Khalifa City) each have their own access. If your unit will be kept in Dubai, redelivery to Abu Dhabi is the long leg of the journey, so say where you expect it to end up.
Al Ain
Al Ain is a city in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, inland from the others. Write Al Ain in the enquiry instead of Abu Dhabi, because the journey is different and the partner needs to know.
Sharjah
Some districts sit on the border with Dubai, and Al Nahda has a Sharjah side and a Dubai side. Give the Sharjah area name (Al Nahda, Al Majaz, Muwaileh) and the emirate, so an address near the line is not read as Dubai.
Ajman
Ajman lies between Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain. Name the area (Al Nuaimiya, Al Rashidiya, Al Jurf) and the building, and say whether a truck can park outside.
Umm Al Quwain
Umm Al Quwain sits between Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah. Name the area, such as the city, Al Salama or the marina, and give the building type and floor.
Ras Al Khaimah
Ras Al Khaimah is the northernmost emirate. Give the area (Al Hamra, Mina Al Arab, Al Nakheel) and where you want redelivery, or say that you will collect later.
Fujairah
Fujairah is on the east coast, on the Gulf of Oman, a long way from the western emirates. Name Fujairah City, Dibba or the nearest district, and ask where the unit will be kept, since the redelivery journey depends on it.
What to put in your enquiry
Whichever emirate you are in, the partner needs the same handful of facts before it can quote. Having them ready shortens the back and forth:
- The collection address, with the emirate and the area or community.
- The type of building, the floor, and whether there is a lift big enough for furniture.
- Where a truck can stop, and any permit, deposit or booking your building asks for.
- Where redelivery will be, or that you will collect later.
- When you want the unit, and how long you expect to keep it.
- The air-conditioned or ambient choice, if you have made it.
Moving between emirates
If you are leaving a home in Abu Dhabi for one in Dubai, a unit collected in one and redelivered in the other is a normal job. Say both addresses when you enquire. Redelivery to a different emirate is a different journey from the one you were collected from, and the price reflects it.
The same applies if you are leaving the UAE. Tell the partner where redelivery will be, or that you will collect later, so the quote covers the end of the contract as well as the start.
Size the job first
Volume does not change with the emirate. A two-bedroom flat in Sharjah takes the same units as one in Dubai Marina. The storage unit size calculator gives you the count before any conversation about distance, and the size guide shows what a studio, flat or villa usually takes. The checklist below has twelve questions to ask a partner about collection, access and the end of the contract.
Questions about storage outside Dubai
Which emirates does StorageinUAE cover?
All seven: Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. The calculator also lists Al Ain, a city in the Abu Dhabi emirate, because people search for it by name.
Can I get storage in Abu Dhabi or Sharjah through StorageinUAE?
Yes. Send the enquiry with your emirate and area, and it goes to a storage partner that covers it. Say where the collection address is and where you expect redelivery to be, and the quote will cover both.
Does it cost more to store outside Dubai?
Sometimes, because collection and redelivery depend on distance and on the partner’s coverage. The monthly rent for the unit itself is a separate line from the journey. The cost page explains what moves a quote.
Can I store in a different emirate from where I live?
With collected storage, yes. The unit is collected at your door and stored wherever the partner keeps it. Ask where the unit will sit, because it changes how far redelivery has to travel.
Is Al Ain part of Abu Dhabi?
Yes, Al Ain is a city in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. Some partners cover it separately from Abu Dhabi city, so name it in your enquiry.
