PRIVACY POLICY

The short version: the calculator is free and anonymous, and nothing reaches us until you submit the form. When you do, we pass your enquiry to storage companies and they pay us for it. That is how this site is funded. The rest of this page is the detail.

This is a draft. It has been written to match what the site actually does, but it has not been reviewed by a qualified adviser and the operating company is not yet registered. Do not collect live customer data against this version.

Who we are

This site is operated by a storage enquiry service. We work out how much space your belongings need and introduce you to storage companies who can do the job. We are not a storage operator, we do not run warehouses, and we store nothing ourselves. Before launch this section must name the registered company, its trade licence number and a working contact address. [to confirm]

How we make money, and what that means for you

You pay us nothing. Storage companies pay us instead, and what they are paying for is your enquiry.

Plainly: when you submit the form, the details you have given us become something we sell. We may pass or sell your enquiry, including your name, phone number, email address and everything you entered about the job, to one or more storage and removal companies, so that they can price your work and contact you about it. We may be paid a fee for the enquiry itself, a commission if you go on to book, or both.

We are saying this here, at the top, rather than in the small print, because it is the main thing you are agreeing to. If you would rather your details were not passed on, do not submit the form. The calculator, the size guide and the cost estimator all work without it, and we will never know you were here.

What we collect

When you use the calculator but do not submit it, nothing is sent to us. Your progress is saved in your own browser so you can resume, and it stays there.

When you submit an enquiry, we receive:

  • Your requirements: the service you want, the emirates involved, the volume or the item list you built, floors and lift access, storage duration, whether you want air conditioned or ambient storage, and the options you selected.
  • Your contact details: name, phone number, email address, preferred date and any notes you add.
  • The estimate itself: the reference, the volume and the pod count.
  • How you arrived: the referring page and any campaign tags on the link you clicked, so we can tell which advertising is worth paying for.
  • Your consent record: that you agreed, when, and the version number of this policy that was live at the time.

We do not ask for your Emirates ID, passport, residence details or payment details through this form, and you should not put them in the notes field. If you do, we will delete them.

Who else sees it

  • Storage and removal companies: the companies we pass or sell your enquiry to. They receive your contact details, the job details, your access notes and the item list, and they contact you directly. From that moment they are responsible for that copy under their own privacy policy, and what they do with it is governed by their terms rather than ours. If you want to know who received your enquiry, ask us and we will tell you.
  • Our hosting and email providers: who process data on our behalf in order to run the site and deliver notifications. They do not use it for anything else.
  • Where the law requires it: if a court or a regulator obliges us to disclose something.

What we will not do

  • We will not pass your enquiry on if you have not ticked the consent box. Without it the form does not submit.
  • We will not sell your details to advertisers, data brokers or list builders. We sell an enquiry to companies who can do your job; we do not sell you as a name on a list.
  • We will not send you marketing of our own. We are not building a mailing list.
  • We will not share anything at all if you use the calculator and never submit the form.

Where it is kept, and for how long

Enquiry records are stored in this website’s own database and are not publicly accessible. Access is limited to the people who need it to run the service.

We keep them for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry, to invoice the company that received it, and to meet our record-keeping obligations. After that we delete them. Before launch, state a specific retention period here and make sure something actually enforces it. [to confirm]

Deleting our copy does not delete theirs. Once a company has your enquiry, their copy is theirs to keep or erase under their own policy, so a deletion request may need to go to them as well as to us.

Your choices

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or withdraw your consent. Use the contact page and we will confirm when it is done. We will also tell you which companies received your enquiry, so you can go to them directly.

Withdrawing consent stops us passing your enquiry on in future. It cannot recall one that has already gone.

UAE data protection law, including the Personal Data Protection Law, may give you further rights depending on how it applies to this service. The exact position has not been confirmed with a qualified adviser, and that confirmation is a launch blocker. The sale of enquiry data in particular needs checking before a single real enquiry is accepted. [to confirm]

Your browser

The calculator saves your progress and any unsent enquiry in your browser’s local storage so that you can come back to it. That data never leaves your device unless you submit the form, and clearing your browser data removes it.

Changes

When this policy changes we increase the version number at the top. Every enquiry we hold records the version that was live when it was submitted, so we can always tell you exactly what you agreed to.
